Back Home In Kazakhstan

October 21st, 2007

As you may have read at my other blog (www.ChrisMerriman.com), I am now back in Kazakhstan, after a little under a month in Britain. I have a few reports/reviews to write from my time there, but you will have to be patient a little longer, as I still have around 400 e-mails to plough through. Anyway, hope all are well who read this, and see (in the online sense) everyone soon :)

Blog Upgrade

October 19th, 2007

As I found I was unable to login to my CPanel interface, I decided to see what else I could break. This blog is now running on WordPress v2.3
I needed to upgrade one plugin, and am now unable to save options within the ‘Reading’ subset, as well as receiving a few strange errors in the admin area of this blog, but all seems well otherwise.
Anyway, I’ve found that I can still access CPanel via https and using a different port number, so I’ll leave things alone for now :) As promised earlier, I’ll be writing a few posts on my experiences in Britain later, with a special mention for Hans Theessink :)

UK Reviews Coming Up

September 25th, 2007

I have just arrived in Britain, after a few days in Amsterdam with AlexC and ChrisD. Not entirely sure just what my plans will be yet, but as this blog is primarily aimed at eventually supplying readers with reviews of products, services and venue that are of interest to those in the UK, I am hoping to have a little more material to work with soon :) I may end up writing these once I get back to Kazakhstan again (17th October), so please forgive me if there is a large delay…

Blog Upgraded

August 27th, 2007

This must be a record for me, I was only three weeks late in upgrading to WordPress’ latest version (2.2.2) this time. I am still unable to upgrade the original blog (www.ChrisMerriman.com), as there are a couple of plugins that have not yet been updated to work with this newer version. As these plugins are used to create the basic structure of many elements within that blog, there is not much I can do for now.
Once I have returned from my trip to Amsterdam, I’m hoping to start posting more regularly here.

BloggerWave

August 16th, 2007

So, if you want to earn some money by writing posts on your blog, check out the Bloggerwave site. So far, there have only been three opportunities, but who knows how things will improve in the future. I can confirm they pay on time. The layout of their site has recently been updated, and is now a little more unique in the crowded world of sponsored post schemes.

Bad Behaviour

August 14th, 2007

It has been a while since I last made a post here, apologies. I have been busy with my other blog, a UPS playing up, a hard drive dying, and organizing a trip to Amsterdam. I will try and start posting more regularly, sorry.
In the mean time, if anyone has any suggestions as to what sort of sites or products they would like to see reviewed here, please do leave a comment. This blog is still in it’s infancy, so nothing is yet set in stone.

Made A Few Changes To This Blog

July 17th, 2007

First, I changed the permalink structure. Originally, it resulted in long URLs for posts, that had less clout with search engines than the current approach.
Now each post should simply be accessible by it’s name, no need for the category, date, or anything else.
For example, this post should hopefully be accessible via http://test.chrismerriman.com/made-a-few-changes-to-this-blog/

Secondly, I found the line of code from the post below this that caused the sidebars to go wrong, on some themes. Hopefully that should all be sorted now.

Finally, I’ve tweaked the header image a little, hopefully it looks fine now?

Some Test Scripts

June 20th, 2007

The following is just some script to check the new theme I’ve uploaded, apologies if they render incorrectly.
